Desolate

Darkened ceiling

Moonlight shades

I’m sleeping fast

As daylight fades

The cold creeps in

The night, she lingers

it claws my throat

it nips my fingers

I’m wrestling fear

Destined to lose

Although intact

The fight ensues

I’m desolate

Not new to this

No one to blame

No one to miss
