After The Storm

(Written for Danny and Cassi Daniels many, many moons ago…)

Met once

Held back

Detoured

On track

Passed out

Looked at you

Stood up

Said ‘I do’

Took a drink

Had a few

Gonna drown

Not a clue

Saw your hand

Grabbed it tight

Holding on

Kissed goodnight

New home

Baby

Round 2?

Maybe

Your eyes?

My chin?

Our world

Welcome in

Storm clouds

Lightning

Wind blows

Frightening

Ripped apart

No fuss

Rebuilt

Like us

I own the block that others swear

they’ve sometimes been around

It takes a little more than rain

these days to get me down

You’ve sewn me back together

When you found me, I was torn

You’re the only bit of sunlight

In my world after the storm
