On the afternoon of June 19th, 2019, my hometown of Greenville, TX was the unlucky recipient of a tornado. Now, some officials have downplayed it as a micro burst, but let’s call a spade a spade. It was heavy winds blowing in a circular motion that caused a ton of damage. We normal folk from Texas call those tornadoes.
I stayed late at the office that day because the art world waits for no one (this is usually about the time in my post where I call someone a poon but I’ll resist the urge). I was halfway home from Dallas when I got the call from my mother stating a damaging storm had hit home. I put the pedal to the floor and began making phone calls to locate my children. When I arrived, my little bungalow was only missing some shingles and my children were all safe and sound. Others weren’t so lucky. Another horrible storm hit shortly after while our first responders and utility crews worked tirelessly throughout the night.
I felt horrible returning to Dallas that night, but I knew I’d only be getting in the way of those who are trained to handle these types of emergencies. With that being said, this is my idea. This is where you come in.
My upcoming novel, “Extinguished” will be releasing on August 1st, 2019 from Death’s Head Press on paperback and for Amazon Kindle. Since the book is ‘first responder’ themed (specifically FD), I will be donating 50% of royalties from pre-orders and sales during the month of August 2019 to Hunt County First Responders in gratitude of their service to my hometown during its time of need. I don’t care if they use it to buy equipment or throw a party…just as long as they invite me to the party.
What is Extinguished?
“Angel Burns is a young fire fighter with a shrouded history. During a routine night at work, she accidentally stumbles upon a demonic ceremony that brings her memories out of hiding…as well as her repressed supernatural powers. Angel soon learns that her life was intended for something greater than extinguishing fires for mortals as she dives deeper into the demonic underworld. Now on the payroll of the Vatican, Angel embarks upon an epic quest to protect the Gutenberg Bibles from the clutches of evil. If successful, she will secure peace for generations to come. If she fails, the power of the ancient books will be unleashed to bestow an eternity of darkness upon all of humanity!”
Not into dark fiction? I get it, but everyone knows someone who is! No one says you have to keep it! Give it as a gift! I’ll even go as far as to make myself available during the month of September to sign every single copy sold in the Greenville, TX/Hunt County area! As soon as my publisher cuts me my first check for the book, I’ll immediately turn over half. Done.
Keep an eye out at cderickmiller.com and my social media pages for the official pre-order date and share this with all the readers you know. I’ll post the link to the book as soon as pre-orders begin. I don’t expect it to be much, but every little bit helps. I didn’t become a writer to get rich, after all. I just wanted a street named after me at some point…
Update 6.21.19 – Death’s Head Press has offered to match me dollar for dollar making this a 100% royalties donation for sales in the month of August!
