A new novel by Greenville-born dark fiction author C. Derick Miller will be released on Aug. 30; it is dark fiction and is titled “A Taste Of Home,” from Texas publisher Black Rose Writing.
Miller is the Herald-Banner’s Arts and Entertainment contributor and reviews books by authors in the region for the Herald-Banner’s Sunday Brunch section each week.
Following is the publisher’s synopsis of Miller’s new novel:
“Toby Liberman is nearing the end of his rope. After a fateful confrontation with his wife’s lover, he is chased into the woods only to be discovered by an unidentifiable creature. He is attacked and rendered unconscious. Upon waking at the scene of a gruesome triple homicide, Toby is arrested as the sole suspect and thrown into a jail cell with a strange man who knows way too much about Toby’s predicament. The stranger reveals that Toby now possesses the curse of the werewolf.
Using his new-found strength to flee his captors, Toby begins to discover that things are not what they seem in the sleepy town of Twin Oaks, Texas.
Now hunted by law enforcement as well as the town’s gun-toting civilians, Toby seeks vengeance against his false accusers and embarks upon a quest to clear his name once and for all.”
Miller is a fiction writer, poet and songwriter born in Greenville. A seasoned paranormal investigator and traveler for the art industry, his works include “Diary Of A Gonzo Ghost Hunter,” the new book “A Taste Of Home,” the short story “Nemesis” published in the Beast Anthology, and a number of songs recorded by Whiskeyhat on their debut EP “El Gallo Diablo.”
Upcoming works already announced by his publishers include the sequel to “Far From Home,” due out in December, another planned early next year, and several short stories including one to be published in the popular Death’s Head Press anthology “And Hell Followed.”
“(Miller) is a believer and an adventurer looking for answers to questions that most people dare not ask,” writes musician and journalist Del James in the intro to Miller’s first book. “He looks for these answers in dark places that most of society steers clear of. In order to share certain experiences and supernatural insights, he has chosen to travel along a paranormal path that is safer during the day but far more interesting at night. Enjoy the ride.
James is also the road manager for Guns N’ Roses and a former Rolling Stone writer.
